Yesterday we went on one of our many family hikes at Comanche Lookout Park. I lived in San Antonio for 4 years during college and never even knew of this park until I moved back. Not only is this park a beauty, but it has history! This park has the 4th highest point in Bexar County, which was used by Native Americans for warfare and hunting. One of the lookout posts still remains and is an awesome sight to see.

This park has both paved and non-paved trails, and a good number of benches to sit and enjoy the views. This park is dog friendly, which is a must for us! One of the reasons I hate going to the gym, is the fact that I have to leave our dogs (children) at home. I almost always turn my hikes into a more intense workout, so I can be with the dogs :). Working out with your dogs outside not only makes it more fun, but it makes it feel like less of a work out. Our normal route is to take the non paved path to the right of the main entrance. It is elevated and takes you right up to a pretty cool view with a bench if you need a rest.

A bit farther past the bench is a paved path, off to the right, where I do 50 lunges. I can definitely already feel the burn at this point! As you continue past the lookout post, there are some straight-a-ways that are good for sprinting and racing the pups. Layla is almost 9 months old, so she is a big ball of energy right now. Any chance she gets to run and chase us, she takes it and absolutely loves it. I usually try to do at least 5 20-second sprints each hike.

The highest point at this park has some benches to sit and relax and enjoy the spectacular views. I do 50 more lunges on the route back to the car. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, do your lunges on the non paved paths! Comment your favorite spots to hike in San Antonio! Thanks for reading! 🙂

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween this year! Tyler and I decided to be an Indian and a Cowboy at the last minute. We ended up putting the majority of our time into our dogs’ halloween costumes and because we’ve been having a Star Wars marathon, we decided to dress Nala up as Yoda, and Layla as Princess Leia.

If you love fringe as much as I do, this dress is perfect. It doubles as a costume and the material is unbelievably soft! I paired it with 3 different booties to give y’all some different options. I got the necklace several years ago at Charming Charlie, but I linked similar necklaces that they are currently selling! I made the headpiece myself in under 20 mins with less than $10 worth of supplies from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful Monday! 🙂

Today is the start of ‘Dia de los Muertos’, also know as ‘Day of the Dead’. This holiday is definitely one of my favorites! The first time I saw a Sugar Skull, I was really intrigued. I started researching them and really fell in love with the holiday! I just love the idea of everyone coming together and remembering the ones that we have lost. Ever since, my obsession for finding and collecting anything and everything sugar skull related has only grown (and has gotten a little out of hand lol).

I got this tank top at the Pecan Street Festival in Austin, Texas. It is a festival that happens twice a year on 6th street, which was previously known as ‘Pecan St.’ This year was our first time going and it was amazing! There were a plethora of vendors, all unique in their own way, as well as an unbelievable amount of delicious food and drinks.

The leatherette skirt and leggings are from Dottie Couture Boutique, and both are fabulous quality. Dottie is having a 20% off sale today (use code SPOOKY)! I hope y’all had a great Halloween weekend! 🙂

WHAT YOU NEED:

Cake Mix (any flavor, I used chocolate)

Orange Icing

Black Icing

Pecans

Cupcake Pan

These cupcakes are perfect for Halloween and take minimal effort! Chocolate is basically another food group for me, so I chose to do chocolate cupcakes. I sent Tyler out to get this while I was at work and he picked a brand I’ve never had before, but they turned out amazing! I followed the directions on the box for the mix, then poured the mix in a cupcake pan. Once they are done baking, make sure you let them cool for 15-30 mins or the icing will melt. I first iced all the cupcakes with orange icing, and then outlined two triangles for the eyes, one for the nose, and then a mouth outline with a tooth. You can leave it like that or fill them in like a did (I left one unfilled pictured above). Finally, I cut a few pecans in half for the pumpkin stems and placed them at the top. These turned out so good! I ended up having a few too many the night I made them. ENJOY 🙂
