I’m Back and Moving Forward

Hiiiiii!! I’m backkkk!! I am so sorry that I was gone for so long. A series of VERY unfortunate events kept me from blogging. I could go into every tiny detail and explain the circumstances, but to save your time I will give you a quick summary! A tremendously dedicated hacker decided to set their eyes on my blog’s Instagram and email. They kept hacking both my Instagram and email numerous times trying to sell iPhones through Amazon. They would lock me out completely changing my accounts backup email, phone number, etc. It was extremely frustrating because when I thought I had it figured out and my accounts back under control I would wake up to find out I was hacked again! I have put a lot of time and effort into my blog’s Instagram and I would have been devastated if I had to start over again. I was actually contemplating if I was even going to start a new Instagram! I now have my accounts back under control after going through a LONG process. I immediately updated my security settings and I suggest you do the same! Luckily, they didn’t do too much damage to my accounts. They wanted access to my contacts to try and sell iPhones to! So crazy!!! That being said, I’m sorry if you got an email or a message on Instagram from me selling iPhones haha.

Once I got my account under control I was just about to start up blogging again when I experienced another major setback. After arriving in California from our stay in Texas, I experienced another major setback. I guess someone was watching me unload the car and ended up stealing a ton of bags from my car. I’m not exactly sure how it happened, but I know I was taking breaks inside with Jackson and that I was extremely exhausted from the drive! They basically stole everything that I use frequently for both personal and blog use. All of my electronics, DSLR camera, purses, make up, jewelry, hair tools, and the list goes on and on (basically everything I own haha)! I have been extremely hard on myself for leaving the car unlocked. I do not come from money, and anything nice or designer that I own, I worked for myself! Most items took me months of saving to be able to purchase.

I was REALLY down in the dumps after this happened and had no clue how we were going to afford to replace all of the stuff I would need in order to start blogging again. In my camera bag that they took was one my blog’s SD cards! Luckily, I had one with me in my purse, but I still lost about half of the content that I had already captured. On top of all of this, I was dealing with family mishaps, issues with Jackson’s insurance, and a ticket that was supposed to have been taken care of!

I basically went into what I call my Cali Coma haha. Lots of Netflix, naps, and junk food! With help from Tyler, I finally got to a point, mentally, where I decided I wasn’t going to let hackers, thieves, and life’s bumps and bruises keep me from blogging – something I’ve been doing for almost two years straight now. If you have sent me an email or DM and I haven’t responded, I’m sorry and catching up right now! I’m not sure if the hackers have altered any of my emails, so if I don’t reply to you in the next 48 hours please resend it! 🙂

I’m ready to leave all this mess behind me and move forward. I’m going to use this experience as a lesson and stay positive. It’s always darkest before the dawn and can only go up from here! 🙂

Below are some pictures from Tyler’s first Father’s Day! We surprised him with a  day on the lake (just about his favorite thing ever) and got a lot of good family time in! Jackson wasn’t too fond of his life jacket and the Texas heat, but all-in-all he had a good day. It was so much fun to be on the wakeboard again! I was definitely feeling it the next day.

If you’re still reading, I hope you have a great 4th of July and thank you for following Sunshine Daydream! And to those that have reached out via email or DM, thank you so much for your concern and thoughtful words. I love the connections that I have made through blogging and I can’t wait to reconnect! ❤

I recently had my girl Katie from Vamp’d Up try out new shampoo and conditioner on my hair! I went to check out here new salon in Fairview and we had fun trying out this new Clean It Up Shampoo and Soften Up Conditioner from Eva NYC. We were very intrigued by the smell and the beautiful bottles. When these products are used together, they are scientifically proven to strengthen hair 3X! The Clean It Up Shampoo is a daily shampoo that gently moisturizes, restores, and nourishes hair. The Soften Up Conditioner is a daily conditioner that gently moisturizes, detangles, and repairs hair. It also has organ oil which is a rich source of antioxidants, fatty acids, and Vitamins A & E. And finally, it has keravis protein complex, which is scientifically proven to deliver 3X stronger hair! To top it all off, I LOVE that they come in pump bottles haha. Who else hates picking up big heavy slippery bottles in the shower for them to only end up on your foot?! These pumps save my feet from a lot of pain!!

Eva NYC just launched their products at Costco, which means you can save BIG! The retail value is $17 a bottle, but you can get them for only $9.99 a bottle at Costco. Talk about a major steal!!

For those curious, my lip color is “First Love” from the ever-popular LipSense. I know you have probably seen this company up and down all of your social media, and it’s for a reason! These lip glosses are the REAL deal! They are  water-proof, kiss-proof, lead free, wax free, cruelty free, GMO free, AND they are made in the US. How awesome is that?! The other thing I think is super cool about this product is that you’re buying it from a direct individual instead of huge corporation. I am ALL about shopping small and putting money directly into somebody’s pocket instead of a CEO. If you would like to purchase or have any other questions about LipSense, contact Shana. She’s amazing and can help you pick from her amazing assortment of colors.  Plus, she ships super quick! If you mention this post and place an order within the next 30 days you will receive 10% off and a free gift!

Why Self Defense for Families is Important

As a parent, it is my duty to raise my child the right way. Yes, this means that I am raising a small human to be kind, creative, responsible and trustworthy, but it also means that I need to raise him to be strong, brave, with a knowledge on how to protect himself and his future family. 2017 is a scary place since crime is increasing and we never know what might be thrown our way, so it is essential to be prepared for the worst, while hoping for the best. Because of this mindset, I believe that it is extremely important for families to know how to protect themselves in the worst case scenario. In my opinion, self defense is important for families to learn because…

Learning how to protect yourself is essential

Like I mentioned above, the last few years have been unlike any other in the past. Lately, we have had to deal with hundreds and thousands of scary scenarios in this crazy world. If we have learned anything from watching the news and hearing the crazy stories, it is that everyone is susceptible to getting caught up in a bad situation. Because of this, learning to protect yourself is essential in the case that you do get caught in a scary situation.

The skills you use can be put to use throughout your life

Self defense skills do not stop being useful at a specific age – your skills are of use your entire life and on top of that, they are not just useful to yourself. They are useful to anyone and everyone around you. When learning self defense as a child, you will carry that set of skills around you for the rest of your life, which will enhance your future families lives, as well.

You are getting exercise

It is a known fact that Americans commonly suffer from obesity and I will go out of my way to teach my son to take care of his body in order to stay healthy and fit. A perk of taking self defense classes is getting the exercise that a lot of Americans are missing out on.

You can make it a family activity

We are busy with work and social lives, but family activities are also extremely important, as well. Taking self defense classes as a family can be a useful and fun way to bond as a family! Another great thing about going in as a family is that you will meet other families going in for the same reason. You can improve your family bond, improve your self awareness and also make friends and improve your social skills, as well!

You improve your quality of life

Going through life being scared of what could happen is no way to live. We need to teach our children to be brave and strong and fearless, and I believe that we can do this by giving them the skills of learning to protect themselves in a scary situation. If you are confident that you can protect yourself, you will not be scared of anything that comes your way. Being confident is not only helpful when you want to protect you, but it boosts your overall mood each day.

Now that you know a few reasons why you should learn how to protect yourselves as a family, here are some ideas for actually putting that idea into action:

Look into self defense classes in your area

Almost every single city has some type of self defense class in your area. All you have to do is Google “self defense classes” and your zip code or city and I am sure something will come up. If for some reason you do not have a class in your area, check online for simple videos.

Find a weapon that suits you

There are many weapons out there that can help you protect yourself, when your own body skills won’t do the trick. One great weapon that you can look into is getting a knife or sword from Swords of Northshire. They sell functional swords, historical weapons, and also accessories. Their goal “is to exceed your expectations, and in turn, create a new standard for the sword industry.” Because customer service is their highest priority, they make it easy to contact them via email, phone number, chat, or through a fill out form. If you check out their reviews and ratings on their website, you will hear about the great customer service and the quality work. Swords of Northshire offers blades that are hand forged by craftsman who have passed the art down from the ancestors of the Japanese Samurai, so you know that you will always get a product that not only meets your expectations, but exceeds them, like their goal states.

Learn to use that weapon properly

No matter what weapon you choose to wield, you always need to learn how to properly use it to make sure both yourself and others are safe. This will give you practice (more information on this in a minute) to sharpen your skills!

Practice, practice, practice

The more you practice, the better you will get at your skill set in self defense. This is important because if you do get stuck in a bad situation, you need to make sure you are practiced and prepared.

Learning self defense with your family is important in order to prepare ourselves. Although you are preparing for dangerous situations, make sure you do not scare your children with your talk. Instead, tell them that you are taking self defense classes to get stronger and learn how to protect themselves. This will forever benefit their lives!
